GRAFTON AIRPORT UPGRADE IN LIMBO

The upgrade of Grafton airport is in limbo after tenders for the work exceeded budget limits.

Clarence Valley Council has been offered $2.1 million in government grants for the terminal upgrade and runway reconstruction, while council only wanted to contribute $1.6 million dollars.

A spokesperson says two tenders it received for the job were well above the total budget and a third didn’t provide value for money.

The issue will be discussed again at the next council meeting.
