RUGBY UNION MATCH ENDS IN TRAGEDY
A rugby union player is fighting for life after suffering a severe head injury during a game in the north west.
The 26-year-old Quirindi player collapsed after making a tackle in the 60th minute, in yesterday’s Central North match against Narrabri.
He was flown to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital, and the match was abandoned.
The Australian Rugby Union is in contact with the club, and is providing counselling services for anyone in need.
