LUCKY ESCAPE FOR FISHERMEN

A pair of fisherman had a lucky escape off the coast of Frazer Park this morning, after their tinny capsized near Wybung Head.

The two men were fishing off the rocks at about 10.30 before they got into trouble about 500 metres from shore.

A member of the public spotted the boat’s upturned hull, before the pair were picked up by lifeguards.

One man received serious lacerations to his arms, while the other was taken to Wyong Hospital for observation.

Both men were wearing life-jackets.

  1. They definitely were very lucky, but the ages are wrong, I know one of the men and he turned 60 this year, just saying.

  2. Yes, the ages were wrong. Both men are in their 60’s and experienced fishermen. The 60 year old has a hand broken in 3 places and severe lacerations. The owner of the boat in hiss mid-60’s has minor injuries. Both are recovering at home and are more upset at the loss of fishing gear. 🙂

  3. A few of us managed to get the boat off the rocks, turn it over and get it back to dry land. I hope its salvageable. I also hope the fisho’s are making good recovery.
