TEEN SURFERS GIVEN BRAVERY MEDALS FOR HELPING SHARK ATTACK VICTIM

Three teenage surfers who tried to save their friend after he was attacked by a shark on the New South Wales Mid North Coast in 2013, have been awarded bravery medals.

Lindsy Isaac-Davies, Shayden Schrader and Kurt Gillan were surfing with 19-year-old Zac Young at Campbells Beach, north of Coffs Harbour, when a shark bit Zac’s legs.

The trio pulled him out of the water, but sadly, he couldn’t be revived.

They’ve been recognised in the first round of the 2015 Australian Bravery Awards announced by Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove today.
