In an attempt to crack down on drivers who drive while affected by illicit drugs, New South Wales Police today launched Operation Impairment in Newcastle.
Last year, 11 per cent of road fatalities involved a driver or motorcyclist who had illicit drugs in their system.
The Hunter has the third highest rate of drug-driving in the state.
The Operation Impairment Road Show will travel to over 52 regional shows and events across the state.
