The NSW Coalition has promised $5.3-million to boost capacity at Maitland and Kurri Kurri hospitals.
Maitland Hospital will receive 16 new acute care beds, to help it cope with increased demand while the new hospital is built.
The hospital’s outpatient waiting room will also be expanded as part of the renovation.
To make way for the additions, 12 rehabilitation beds will be moved to Kurri Kurri Hospital, increasing its capacity from 14 to 26 beds.
