NURSES FIGHT FOR PENALTY RATES
Manning Hospital nurses and midwives took their protest to the streets today, fearful their penalty rates are under threat.
It follows recommendations made, following a Productivity Commission inquiry into workplace relations.
“It’s hard to have a life when you’re working at night and everybody else is working during the day and it will lead to roughly a 30 percent decrease in our wages,” Protestor Corey Smith said.
The 100 strong crowd marched from the hospital to the main street of Taree.
Manning Hospital was one of 22 taking part in state wide action today.
