MORE REDUNDANCIES FOR FORGACS WORKERS

More jobs are set to go from Newcastle shipbuilder Forgacs.

The company has today announced another round of redundancies, as it prepares for the end of an Air Warfare Destroyer project in December.

Forgacs says trades, management and administration roles will be affected, but it’s yet to say the exact number.

“As an industry and as a company, we have been flagging the ‘valley of death’ for over two years. For Forgacs it is here now and further jobs unfortunately have to go,” said CEO Lindsay Stratton.

The company says no new shipbuilding projects have been released and its workforce is paying the price.

It is however, pursuing all available opportunities.

  1. The government arent very bright are they?? They would rather send work overseas and see workers made redundent than have the work done here. False economy!! If I can see that why dont they??
