MAN CHARGED WITH CESSNOCK MURDER REMAINS BEHIND BARS

The 49-year-old man charged with the murder of a Cessnock man over the weekend has faced court.

Police allege Gregory John Thompson stabbed Michael Moad several times at a home in Cessnock on Sunday morning, before returning to the crime scene with self-inflicted injuries.

Thompson is also facing charges of common assault, intimidation and breaching an AVO.

He didn’t apply for bail.
