JOGGER SAVED BY SURF LIFESAVER AND NURSE

A man in his 50s has a surf lifesaver and a nurse to thank for saving his life at Port Stephens this morning.

He was jogging at Bagnall’s Beach around 8.30, when he went into cardiac arrest.

The lifesaver and nurse, who happened to be nearby, successfully carried out CPR on the man.

He was taken by ambulance to Bill Armstrong Oval where he was sedated and placed in a medical induced coma by a paramedic on the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

The man was flown to John Hunter Hospital where he is recovering.
