The Save Our Rail Group has been granted a hearing in the Supreme Court for a last ditch challenge to the State government’s plans to cut the Newcastle rail line on Boxing Day.
Save our Rail president Joan Dawson received the support of Opposition MPs before lodging a request for an injunction at the Supreme Court in Sydney.
The government has vowed to push on with its plan to cut the line, ignoring the findings of a parliamentary inquiry and awarding a tender for the design and construction of a Wickham interchange.
