Former Federal Member for Dobell, Craig Thomson, has avoided jail time for stealing money from the Health Services Union while he was the national secretary.
He was however fined $25,000 and ordered to pay more than $5000 compensation for the theft of roughly that amount.
Victorian County Court Judge, Carolyn Douglas, said the court wasn’t concerned that Thomson paid for sex workers, rather that he used union money to do so.
