STRONG SOUTHERLY BLASTS NEWCASTLE
Winds of up to 80 kilometres an hour managed to split a fig tree in half at Newcastle West overnight.
The southerly blast could be the strongest we’ve had all year, and was felt on the harbour today, as ships struggled to make it past the break wall.
But a lone surfer couldn’t be deterred from the whitewash, making the most of an uncrowded Nobbys beach.
Gavin Morris will have more on the wild weather, later in the bulletin.
