WOMAN CHARGED OVER WAUCHOPE MURDER

A woman has been refused bail in Port Macquarie Court, charged with the murder of a man whose body was found in a car on the state’s mid-north coast on Friday.

About 4.30am, a 38-year-old woman met with a 43-year-old man near King Creek. The two people were known to each other previously.

Police will allege the woman stabbed the man once to the chest, before he got into his vehicle and drove off.

Just after 7am, officers attached to Mid North Coast Local Area Command were called to reports of a man injured in a car on the side of the Oxley Highway at Wauchope.

On arrival, emergency services found the injured man in a Ford Falcon sedan.

Ambulance Paramedics treated the man at the scene; however he died on the way to hospital.

As a result of inquiries, police attended an address in Park Street, Port Macquarie, and arrested a 38-year-old woman.

Police executed a search warrant at this address, where they seized cannabis plants and other items. A second search warrant was also executed at a Pappinbarra address.

The woman was taken to Port Macquarie Police Station where she was charged with murder.
