Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson is calling for better protection of prime agricultural land from coal seam gas companies.
Mr Anderson has met with Energy Minister Anthony Roberts and Santos representatives to discuss black soil farmland on the Liverpool Plains near Mullaley.
The local member hopes companies, like Santos, who hold petroleum exploration licenses over the black soil plains, will hand back sections of their titles.
It follows the release of the state’s gas plan, which will see the current freeze on new applications reversed.
