SURFER SEES LIGHTER SIDE OF ATTACK

A competitive surfer bitten by a shark on the mid north coast late yesterday is seeing the lighter side of the incident.

Ryan Hunt went for a late surf at Wallabi Point near Taree when he was attacked.

The 20-year-old caught a wave and says when he got off his board, he” stood on a shark’s head.”

“I was in waist-deep water and put my foot down.”

“I thought it was a rock at first and then it latched on to my foot.”

“Apparently sharks like feet…” Ryan posted on social media. When asked on the Today Show what type of shark he thought it was, Ryan replied it could have been “a very large goldfish.”

He’ll undergo surgery on a laceration to his foot today.
