WEATHER UPDATE: RECORD-BREAKING OCTOBER HEAT

Yesterday was the hottest October day on record for many locations. All the top temps were in the high 30s and with a few 40 degree temps recorded.

TOP 10 RECORDS:

  1. Barraba and Quirindi topped the list with it being the hottest in 46 years
  2. Inverell 45 years
  3. Pindari Dam 40 years
  4. Scone 23 years
  5. Tamworth 21 years
  6. Mangrove Mountain and Moree 19 years
  7. Armidale 17 years
  8. Maitland 16 years
  9. Gunnedah and Narrabri 12 years
  10. Murrurundi and Singleton 10 years

A weak change with an associated shower band is moving across the Hunter this evening before moving north.

Tomorrow will be slightly cooler, but mostly sunny. The north east corner of New South Wales and south east Queensland will see some shower and storm activity from the passing trough as it contracts northward.
