KENDALL TRUCK BOOK AUTHORS ATTRACT A CROWD

A Kendall couple who wrote a successful children’s book, held a special holiday reading at Toormina Library today.

Authors Mitch and Anne arrived in “Fatty the Ratrod,” the old farm truck they rescued from a Dubbo dump and made famous through their book.

“On the way home, we wondered how she’d got so many dents and scratches and we just started writing a poem for my little girl Grace, we got about six verses in, I’ve looked at Anne and gone, darling there’s a kid’s book in this,” said author Mitch Oxborough.

After inspecting the 1951 Dodge Fargo, the children listened to the former labourer recite his poetry.

A sequel is almost finished.
