RED CROSS CELEBRATE 100 YEARS OF SUCCESS

The Red Cross celebrated 100 years of service in the Northern Rivers today.

Gathering in Ballina, members of the organisation saluted the efforts of past and present volunteers.

But despite having up to 2000 members locally, that number is on the decline, forcing the organisation to change tactics to appeal to the younger generation.

“The more formal branches are becoming almost clubs so they will have after work activities for young women who are interested in doing something with the Red Cross.”

Offering ongoing humanitarian and medical support for the last century, members say recruiting is vital to ensure the organisation continues for years to come.
