REGALS BEAT SOUTHS IN HOCKEY GRAND FINAL

Regals have claimed a third straight Newcastle Women’s hockey grand final, thanks to a narrow win over Souths.
The defending champions made a great start, Sophie Robinson finishing off a penalty corner.
Missing several players, including Hockeyroo Mariah Williams, Souths showed plenty of desperation in defence.
But another penalty corner proved their undoing, Mel Greer made it two-nil.
In the second half, Estelle Hughes got hit by friendly fire.
Greer thought she had a second, but officials had other ideas.
Souths finally had something to cheer about when Ellen Webb scored, but it was too late.
