The two big tops have now been pulled down following the sad demise of Circus Australis, which closed after three shows last week.
Newcastle businessman Frank Frasca says he’s made sure that all staff have now been paid.
Some of the Australis staff have returned to Circus Avalon, a successful local community circus.
Director John Campbell told us, “I think running a circus is really hard, there are so many things you have to manage and sometimes people make mistakes.”
Circus Avalon has set up near the Broadmeadow PCYC for the next two weekends.
“Our circus and most of the circuses we know are really flourishing and audiences are coming because, it’s almost innocent fun entertainment.”
