ENDEAVOUR DEPARTS

After seeing a steady flow of visitors in Newcastle over the past few days, the replica of Captain Cook’s ship, the Endeavour, slipped its mooring lines and headed for Port Stephens today.

Normally based at the National Maritime Museum in Sydney, the ship has been conducting coastal voyages with paying passengers.

Along the way, they conduct botanical surveys, and study 18th century astronomy and navigation, as well as learn the basics of square rig sailing.
