BURLEIGH BEARS UPSET FRONTRUNNERS PRIDE

They won’t be making it to the finals, but a last minute field goal to Khan Ahwang made sure they finished their season on a high.

They upset the Northern Pride in the QRL at Pizzey Park yesterday,

sliding to a narrow victory against the top-tier team.

53 minutes in, Ahwang made a break from the Bears’ 30 metre line setting up a long range try for Henare Wells.

Definitely the man of the match, he finished the season yesterday as the tournament’s highest point scorer.

Also making this kick – tipping it for the Bears on their home turf.

“Field goal, Khan Awang. Burleigh 29. Northern Pride 28.”

Giving the Pride something to think about…though they’re still heading into finals at the top of the ladder.
