  1. Mr Squires has no professional qualifications or technical experience in transport whatsoever. This is abundantly clear in his claim that he can truncate rail and build a light rail system for $90,000,000. This is fantasy stuff. The lowest estimate to date just to truncate rail is $200,000,000. On top of that you need to buy new trams, build stabling facilities, repair and cleaning facilities, convert, and in many cases, build light rail track. Remove all overhead electricity and replace with power supply for light rail and the list goes on. Even the $460,000,000 that Mr Squires quotes for the government preferred option is done out of context. That is the budget for all of the heavy rail and all of the light rail and all of the public domain improvements.

Mr Squires is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts. How about you ask a transport professional next time.
