A $56 million marina earmarked for Ballina’s Kingsford Smith Park will not come to fruition.
Ballina Mayor David Wright has voted against the proposal, which he claims was sprung on council less than three weeks ago.
He says the plan was too much, too soon, and without consultation.
“It got out into the public, and before anyone could explain it they just said it’s so big, so huge, gold coast type development, the negativity was there.”
Council’s been allocated state money to look into two alternative marine sites.
