MAN SENTENCED AFTER RUNNING DOWN FATHER AND TWO CHILDREN

A man who pleaded guilty to running down a father and his two children who were waiting for a bus in 2012, has been sentenced to at least two years behind bars.

Lismore District Court today heard Malcolm Joseph Harris had an epileptic fit while behind the wheel of a stolen car, causing him to run off the road and into Shaun Zaygar and his two children.

The 37-year-old was under the influence of methadone, diazepam and marijuana at the time, and had been suspended from driving until 20-30.

Harris was sentenced to four years and seven months in prison with a non parole period of two years.
