INVESTIGATION INTO BRISBANE BOMB HOUSE COMES TO HUNTER

The investigation into a Brisbane bomb house came to the Hunter today, with police raiding two properties, including one belonging to the family of the main suspect, Daniel Fing.

Police used a robot, designed to look for dangerous bombs, as they searched for evidence at the Belmont North and Waratah properties.

Daniel Fing’s father was also called in to give evidence.

One neighbour says she was faced with about seven police officers with rifles, dressed completely in black.

The 30-year-old was renting the Pullenvale property in Brisbane’s west, where maps of potential targets in Sydney and Newcastle were found.

Today the army was enlisted for a final sweep of the property, explosives experts with sniffer dogs and metal detectors were also called in.

Fing is in custody on unrelated matters in Newcastle.
