The Great Lakes community turned out in overwhelming numbers last night, to support a young footballer who was injured during a game in May.
700 people attended an auction in Forster for 15-year-old Curtis Landers, raising more than a quarter of a million dollars towards his recovery.
Special guests at the fundraiser included Blues coach Laurie Daley and former Newcastle Knight Danny Buderus.
Curtis is currently undergoing rehabilitation at Sydney’s Westmead Hospital after breaking two vertebrae in his neck.
