GIDLEY GETS TOP JOB FOR TWO MORE YEARS

Former Knights player Matt Gidley will spend another two years as Knights CEO.

Gidley was rehired in the role by an interim advisory board consisting of John Quayle, Paul Shear and Paul Harragon.

“We are pleased that Matt has accepted to remain as the club’s CEO,” Quayle said.

“Matt has done a magnificent job during a turbulent time and we look forward to the club’s future success under his leadership.”

NRL boss Dave Smith says he’s happy Gidley will remain with the club.

“Matt has provided stability at the club during a difficult period and I am confident that he will guide the club over the next two years through the next phase of its growth and success,” he said.

On the coaching front, a sub committee consisting of Matt Gidley, Paul Harragon and John Quayle has been formed to find a replacement for Wayne Bennett.

“We are currently working through the process and while it is important to secure our new coach, we will take our time to ensure we make the right appointment,” Gidley said.

“Our recruitment remains on track, with the majority of our players secured for season 2015.”

Rick Stone, who coached the Knights when Wayne Bennett arrived, is favoured to again take the reins.
