Wyong Council will commission a study into the feasibility of deepening the Entrance Channel, off the back of community pressure.
The recommendation follows a completed state government review looking at the benefits of installing training walls at the channel, which has been plagued by sand build up.
The new project would involve shaving the rock shelf at the mouth of the channel, making it up to two metres deeper, to improve water flow and quality throughout Tuggerah Lakes.
