HSU CALLS FOR MORE CLEANERS AT PORT MACQUARIE HOSPITAL

Around 35-workers from Port Macquarie Hospital have walked off the job, as the Health Services Union steps up its campaign against what it considers to be understaffing.

The HSU estimates the newly expanded hospital needs at least 21-cleaners to properly clean the facility.

But at this stage, management will only commit to six.

The hospital has responded to the strike action, saying “Staffing numbers are calculated in accordance with industry standards. And Port Macquarie Base Hospital is committed to maintaining the facility at the highest standard of cleanliness.”
