MISSING SURFER’S FAMILY THANKS EMERGENCY SERVICES
The family of an Irish surfer who went missing on the North Coast last weekend, has thanked the local community and emergency services.
20-year-old Stuart Butler got caught in a rip at Tallow Beach at Byron Beach on Saturday, while surfing with two mates.
Rescue crews saved a 26-year-old and 20-year-old, but couldn’t locate Mr Butler.
“We’d like to say a huge and heartfelt thank you on behalf of Stuart’s family both here and back in Ireland for the support we have received from the local community,” a family spokesperson said.
“In particular, the local police in Byron Bay and Tweed Heads, the Queensland Police Helicopter, Surf Life Saving North Coast, Brunswick Volunteer Rescue Association and Australian Maritime Search Authority.
“We are full of hope that he will be returned to us and ask all to keep him in their thoughts and prayers.”
