A 29-year-old English backpacker was left unconscious after being assaulted outside a hotel in Coffs Harbour on the weekend.
Police were told a 19-year-old man approached the backpacker at the corner of Grafton and West High Streets, and allegedly head butted him from behind.
He was then allegedly punched twice and knocked to the ground.
The Englishman was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
It’s believed the man did not know his attacker.
