THE WARATAHS ADVANCE TO NHRU GRAND FINAL

NHRU
Major Semi Final
THE WARATAHS 27 – HAMILTON 15

The Waratahs are the first team to qualify for the Newcastle and Hunter rugby grand final, following a 12 point win over Hamilton in the major semi.
Penalties dominated the early exchanges, Damien Wells put Hamilton in front, before Tim Riley potted three for the home side.
The men in red made a few half breaks, but it was the Hawks Steve Sione who grabbed the opening try.
Quick thinking by Paddy Kilmurray put Hamilton on the attack and no one was going to catch Sireli Bainivalu.
Down 15-9 at the break, the Tahs stormed home to topple the minor premiers in the second half.
