  1. Yes it’s a concern when our country repeatedly lets this happen, refuse to pass safe passing distances, duty of care, strict liability legislations and more often than not, seeks to blame the victim.

Thank you for not using that offensive term ‘accident’ until all the findings are completed.

  2. It’s sad to see an accident like this happen on a road I drive on a regular basis especially for the school run, this morning my son has placed daffodils for the man and his family as he has found this story upsetting as well.

  3. The truck driver should be charged! There is no excuse for hitting this cyclist from behind! This is just a case of negligent driving. My husband rides his bike on the road each day also and I am terrified of the other motorists on the road. He is often verbally abused and feels threatened by motorists. I am upset by this incident.

  4. My heart goes out to the families of this man but I hardly think the truck driver deliberately hit the bike rider. truck drivers also experience people trying to overtake etc and put other lives on the line by making poor decisions. I also think that roads are for motor vehicles and bicycle tracks are for exaclty that, bikes!
I don’t set out to offend anyone, I’m not a bike rider nor a truck driver I just think when you get on a bicycle and ride along side traffic there’s always going to be risks.

  5. This is heartbreaking, and makes me even more terrified that my fiancé is an avid cyclist! Seriously people, share the road!!

  6. anyone to straight away blame the truck driver is a fool people need to realise what truck drivers experience and have to put up with every day people need to let trucks merge so they are not forced off the road to avoid running over a car and give them room they are bigger and harder to pull up so be courteous to truck drivers they carry our country and without them we are all buggered
