MACA GROWERS PLEA FOR FINANCIAL HELP
The Australian Macadamia Society claims most of its growers will miss out on the Federal Government’s disaster relief income subsidy.
The funding is available to farmers across the far north coast who were effected by recent flooding.
However, those with substantial assets don’t qualify.
“If you have assets exceeding $335 000 which is every single macadamia farmer in the Northern Rivers, I think then you are going to be un-eligiable to access this money.”
The Macadamia Society is now calling on the State Government to give Far North Coast Growers Category C funding.
“That will make a $15 000 grant available to the growers and that is going to help them get back on their feet.”
