JELLYFISH INVADE GOLD COAST WATERWAYS

As Queenslanders try to escape the heat, there’s been an unexpected invasion of Gold Coast waterways.

A king tide and strong winds have pushed thousands of blue jellyfish into canals.

The blue blubbers are South East Queensland’s most common jellyfish.

While generally not dangerous, they do have a mild sting, and some people can suffer reactions.

Swimmers are being warned to look, before they leap.
