CALL FOR A MEMORIAL FOR HMAS ADELAIDE AT TERRIGAL HAVEN
September 6, 2012 at 9:02 am
The creation of an annual festival, is just one idea on the cards – if a memorial for ex- HMAS Adelaide is built in Terrigal.
The push is now on for council to ‘hurry up’ and get the funding.

Why didn’t they just build a memorial in the first place to honour our Australian Navy and those who served on the HMAS Adelaide instead of dumping a ridiculous waste of taxpayers money – in so many ways? I’d still like to see actual evidence of the millions of dollars that are potentially pouring into the Central Coast from this project.
While at it they might include the people who in the future will be impacted by the lead, PCBs and asbestos.
It is still unknown whether the erosion at the Avoca Lakes entry was caused by this ship as Professor Goodwin predicted.
A memorial to the beach will be a very sad thing.
I have no problem with remembering our brave sailors but how many of them died due to serving on toxic ships?
It would be good if some of the people who served on The Adelaide had some input into this.
I would encourage all X Personnel to write to Gosford Council with your ideas.
