LONGITUDINAL ZONES COULD GIVE DAYLIGHT SAVING “LATITUDE”

New South Wales’ Cross Border Commissioner says longitudinal time zones could be the answer to the daylight savings dilemma on the Queensland border.

It comes as all but the Sunshine State prepare to turn their clocks forward an hour in October.

  1. It would be unsustainable to end Daylight Saving all together. Imagine for example if it was your community achieving a 30% reduction in road fatalities due to Eastern Daylight Time – YOU’D WANT TO KEEP IT IN PLACE – This finding has been sourced from the NSW Roads & Traffic Authority.The clear message is that it’s only responsible that more be done in Northwest NSW (their sunrise is too late) & Southeast QLD (their sunset is too early) in order to GET THE DAYLIGHT BALANCE RIGHT! for such regions – It’s a waste of lives and emergency resources otherwise.
