July 17, 2012 at 5:52 pm
The tables were turned on a machete-wielding bandit who tried to rob an Alstonville bakery early yesterday, when staff chased him out with a broom.
Police say the man entered the McCarthy’s store around 3.30am, threatening staff and demanding cash, before trying to tie up one of the bakers.
The pair managed to barricade themselves behind shelving, before fending the empty-handed robber off with a broomstick.
The offender is described as a 20 to 30 year old caucasian male, 180cm tall and he was wearing a black hoodie and trackpants at the time.
