WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER POLICE CHASE THROUGH NEWCASTLE

A woman has been arrested after allegedly leading police on a pursuit through Newcastle yesterday afternoon.
Officers stopped the Mazda MX6 in Hamilton and spoke to the driver after several members of the public called triple zero.
The woman allegedly drove off while still talking to police and was pursued by highway patrol officers through Newcastle West and Merewether before being stopped at Bar Beach.
While police were removing the woman from the car she allegedly kicked an officer in the leg and resisted arrest.
The 31-year-old woman was arrested and charged with driving in a manner dangerous, refusing blood and urine tests, assaulting police and resisting arrest.
She was refused bail and duew to appear in Newcastle Local Court today.
