February 29, 2012 at 3:00 pm
Four teenagers including a 15-year-old girl from Macksville are in police custody after a high-speed chase along the Pacific Highway overnight.
Police say they spotted the two boys and two girls in a stolen vehicle heading south on the highway at Coffs Harbour around 8pm.
The teenagers faced Kempsey court today where police alleged the car hit speeds of 160 kilometres an hour, when it was pursued, before being stopped by road spikes at Nambucca.
“Obviously a very very dangerous practice they were the speeds were a concern to us because it puts other road users at risk which is why the tyre deflation devises were deployed and successfully deployed which rendered the vehicle to lose control and collide with the tree,” Coffs Clarence Inspector Joanne Reid said.
