DECADES OF NEWCASTLE RAIL DEBATE

It’s an issue Novocastrians have been talking about for decades, the future of the city’s heavy rail line.
The new premier has repeatedly said any decision will be made by locals, but at the federal level, a study has flagged the possibility of light rail.

The train carries more people than the free bus (175 oper day) the ferry (50 per day) and the Independant transport Study which will become the blueprint for Hunter Transport stated that the Rail line needs to stay as part of the revitalisation of Newcastle CBD, I suggest that you read it
