YAMBA AND GRAFTON POLICE ASSAULTED

A man has been charged over a violent attack on three police officers in the Coffs /Clarence Command.
The first of the alleged assaults took place at a Yamba residence yesterday afternoon when a male officer was punched twice in the head.
The man fled but was arrested a short time later at Iluka.
Police say he then attempted to bite the face of a sergeant before striking him in the head.
He is then alleged to have bitten the arm of another male officer.
All three policemen required hospital treatment for their injuries.
The man has been refused bail.
