A bombshell in the A-League today with Newcastle Jets coach Gary Van Egmond quitting the club, just six weeks before the start of the coming season.
A premiership winner with the club, he had most recently guided the Jets to the Round of 16 in the Asian Champions League.
Only one year into a five year deal at Newcastle, Van Egmond has accepted the role as Head coach of the Australian Institute of Sport.
