FRIENDSHIP GALVANISED: REUNION FOR ‘POMMY TOWN’ RESIDENTS

In the 1920s around 100 English steelmill workers, galvanisers and their families were brought to Australia to begin operations at John Lysaght Limited.

They lived in a part of Mayfield affectionately known as Pommy Town, and more than 80 years on their descendants are organising a reunion.
