Two-time premiership winner Adam MacDougall has confirmed this will be his last season at Newcastle but the the ‘Mad Dog’ is likely to play one more season and its almost certain to be overseas in rugby union. Former Socceroo keeper Mark Bosnich has made a spectacular return to top-flight football in the A-League. The 36-year-old became an instant crowd favourite when he walked onto the pitch in front of 7000 Central Coast fans in Gosford. Bosnich showed glimpses of his best to help the Mariners keep a clean sheet. The Central Coast eventually beating Sydney three nil in their Pre Season Cup clash.

Some of the most powerful people in the country are resting their weary bones, after competing in the Australian Powerlifting Championships in Newcastle. In the women’s division, weighing 76 kilograms, Anne Mort from Ashtonfield lifted 420 kilos across the three powerlifting disciplines. In the men’s, Western Australia’s Nathan Baxter lifted an incredible 900 kilos during the championships.
