OUTTERIDGE AND JENSEN CONTINUE TO DOMINATE SUPERFOILER SERIES

Lake Macquarie sailors Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen have extended their winning streak in the Superfoiler Grand Prix series to 15 straight races. Their team, Euroflex, dominated round two in Geelong. “Nice racing here. They’ve just got faster and faster.” Having won every race in Adelaide, Euroflex completed another unbeaten run in Victoria. But the crew says its rivals are getting closer, ahead of the next round on the Gold Coast. “The first couple of races was really tight and the last couple Parko was pushing super hard so you definitely had to have your wits about you.” “You could see the course was flat water. Obviously it was shifty and we were having a good race with Tech 2 in that last one, about 30 knots and weaving through the spectators, awesome fun.”

NITTIES MOVES FROM WA TO QUEENSLAND AFTER PERTH PERFORMANCE

Hunter golfer James Nitties is keen to build on his momentum following his second place finish at the $1.7-million World Super Six event in Perth. He’s now preparing for the Queensland PGA tournament, which begins on Thursday. Nitties won the opening hole of the two-man matchplay final, but a handful of wayward tee shots saw him surrender the lead to Kiradech Aphibarnrat. The Thai golfer then made two straight birdies to claim the title on the fifth hole. “Starts it outside, makes it.”

Numerous Gosford athletes finished on top of the dais at the State Junior Championships at the weekend. Two standouts were siblings Katie and Tyler Gunn – winning gold in the long jump and 400 metres events.

ROOS FULLBACK TO REPRESENT AUSTRALIA

The Central Coast will have two players represent Australia in next week’s Rugby League Commonwealth Championship in Brisbane. Terrigal junior Scott Drinkwater has been named, along with Wyong fullback Luke Sharpe, who’ll fulfil a lifelong dream when he pulls on the green and gold.

NSW SURFERS DOMINATE SURFEST PRO JUNIORS

Corlette’s Kirra-Belle Olsson grabbed third at the Surfest Pro Junior at Merewether today. Olsson had been competing in the Great Lakes Pro, but made the trip back to the Hunter worthwhile by reaching the final. One of Australia’s top young prospects, Alyssa Lock from Tweed Heads, dominated the decider with two seven point rides. In the men’s event, Callum Robson from Evans Head produced a five and a seven on his opening two rides to claim top spot. Jackson Roberts from Bateau Bay was second, edged out by just over half a point.
