DOLPHINS CRUSHED BY BEARS

In State League Basketball, Coffs Harbour had a narrow win over Norths Bears in last night’s home game, before Port Macquarie went down to the Sydney team this afternoon. It was a close game from the start, with the Bears just two points in front after the first quarter. Josh Minihan top scored for the Dolphins with 14 points, while Jake Wallis scored 13. The loss, dealing another blow to Port Macquarie’s finals hopes.

HAWKS COACH POSITIVE THEY’VE TURNED A CORNER

While in Group 3 rugby league, first-time Captain Coach Matt Kirkland says his Forster-Tuncurry side has turned a corner. An unfortunate loss last week cemented their position at the bottom of the ladder. “We really played go the structures we wanted to. Thought we were pretty unlucky not to get away with the win, thought we should have…was the one that got away I suppose,” said coach Kirkland. In a tough assignment they’ll host ladder leaders Port City on Sunday. “If we can do the same sorts of things we did last week. Hopefully a little bit of luck goes our way. THE LIONS ROAR INTO THE BEST OF THE BEST

Round six of the FFA Cup has been drawn and our mid north coast men will be up against one of the Hunter’s third tier clubs. “The second ball drawn out will play Coffs City United FC and that club is ball number three, Cardiff City FC.” The opposition’s coach, Chad Lane says “I think there’s some very strong clubs and players up from that North Coast.” If the Lions win this game it will put them among the final four teams in the state. BULLS LOOK TO CONTINUE WINING STREAK AGAINST SHARKS

In Group 3 Rugby League the Taree City Bulls are determined to continue their winning streak when they come up against Port Macquarie this weekend. But that means they’ll have to break their not so promising track record at Regional Stadium. “We haven’t won up there…I can’t remember the last time we won up there so that’s one of our goals this weekend.” With no changes to the winning side, Coach Gary Bridge says a win is in his sights.
