ASBESTOS ON WAMBERAL BEACH

Asbestos still remains uncovered at Wamberal Beach, despite being reported back in April. Meanwhile, Wamberal residents are furious with what they say is the lack of communication by Central Coast Council regarding beach erosion. Recently Council finalised its long-awaited Coastal Zone Management Plan to allow landowners to erect temporary protection works, but according to residents the storms are coming and no action has been taken by Council.

ARREST MADE ONE MONTH AFTER WARATAH FIRE

A man will appear in court today following a house fire at Waratah last month. Emergency services were called to a home which was well alight on Ada Street, early on the 14 May. The property sustained significant damage, luckily no one was home at the time. After extensive investigations officers arrested a 31-year-old man yesterday.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO NEWCASTLE’S PARKING PROBLEM

There might be a novel way to fix Newcastle’s parking problems and it was getting a test run today. The Caterpillar, is a custom built Rickhshaw that’s being trialed at the Olive Tree Markets. It’s picking up people from nearby carparks and getting them into Civic Park for free. Newcastle Now Business Improvement Association is discussing the possibility of using Rickshaws on a large scale across town.
